Once you have paid off the advance credit, you are allowed to borrow a fraction of your credit limit. This is known to be your available credit. How you repay this advance credit will affect how much money you can borrow in future. You can also make payments on your balance. Each card issuer will have its own methods for compensating your outstanding balance.
Interest-free grace periods
The grace period for credit cards that is interest-free is the time between the close of a billing cycle (or the due date) when you will not be charged any interest on purchases made using the card. Credit card grace periods are usually for new purchases only and do not apply to cash advances or balance transfers. Once you begin earning interest on these purchases you'll be required to pay the full amount.
Each issuer and bank has a different interest-free grace period. It is best to verify your agreement to know the exact length.

Balance carried forward at interest rate
A credit card that has a balance that has been carried forward from a previous billing period will likely have an interest rate. This interest rate is calculated each day. Calculating the interest rate is based on the average daily balance over a given billing period.
The grace period will end and you will have to pay interest on any balance you carry over. Each day, interest accrues until you pay the full amount. This is also known as residual interest or trailing interest. It is only applicable to balances that are carried from one billing cycle into the next. Once you have paid off all of your statement balance, the interest will cease.
Late fees
Many credit card companies make money on late fees. These fees can be as high as 24 percent of your total bill and are disproportionately burdened on economically vulnerable consumers. Your card issuer may be able to negotiate a reduced fee for good behaviour. It is best to pay your bills in full each month to avoid any late fees. Automated payments can be set up through your bank or credit card issuer.
If you have missed a payment, call the customer service number at the back of the card to discuss your situation. You can also write a letter explaining the situation if you are unable to contact customer service. Some cardholders have had success sending secure messages online.

There are several payment options
For both consumers and businesses, there are many credit card payment options. If you sell products or services online, it can be helpful to have a variety of payment options available to your customers. Recurring billing is a great option for businesses selling recurring products or services. This type is mandated and can be used for most credit card providers.
